What is it?

I.A.S.T.M. is a treatment method that reduces pain and tightness, increases range of motion, reduces post-surgical adhesions/scar tissue, enhances sports performance, and promotes proper healing.

How does it work?

Use of the instruments allows the clinician to find and break down adhesions and/or scar tissue within muscle and fascia. The instruments introduce controlled microtrauma to the affected soft tissue and causes the stimulation of a local inflammatory response. This initiates reabsorption of inappropriate fibrosis or excessive scar tissue and facilitates healing activities

Is it safe and effective?

For many people suffering with chronic pain and tightness, this method may provide significant relief and often complete resolution of symptoms. Although it is a bit more aggressive than traditional massage or physical therapy, it is very safe and the only reported side effect is temporary soreness post treatment, just like you would feel after exercising. Since it is safe, a trial of 4 treatments can be done for most problems to determine if it can help.

How many visits does it take?

Most people notice improvement within a few visits, and on average require 4-8 visits for complete resolution of symptoms. For others that do not receive complete benefit, there is usually maximum therapeutic benefit within 6-8 visits.
